Holy crapola! Suddenly, my living conditions are really okay.

Heh, this post reminded me of something...when I lived in my first place, there was a girl living with us (my ex-GF, actually) who played the "I won't admit to my mess" game you described...fortunately, none of the rest of us did, but she made way too much of a mess on here own. As in, somehow, every dish in the kitchen would wind up getting dirty when she made something.

My roommates and I finally expressed our unhappiness at her by taking her pile of dirty dishes and dumping it in her bed. She moved out a little after that, what a shame...

Actually, I've known a lot of people who solved their roomie problems by the ol' "dirty dishes in the bed" trick. And then there was the guy who simply smoked so much weed he passed out on the dishes....
