Well, Jefferson didn't say "I'm homesick" or "It's hard doing business with the French"; apparently he comprehensively dissed them, from the porters at le Havre harbour all the way to the Cabinet. So it was a tad more specific than a bar-room, sorry a coffee-house generic lament. |
