Sure it does. (And you'll have to forgive my ignorance in that I don't know who either Richard Sharpe or Sean Bean is).

There are more than twenty Bond movies. In each of them, he's been played by a dark-haired, blue-eyed English guy. (Okay, I'm not certain that everyone's eyes are blue, and one could make an argument that Roger Moore has light hair). Most people, I'd bet, know Bond only from the movies.

So, what we're talking about here is a major break in continuity, and I'm saying that to me, that means he's not James Bond.

What we should do is make a movie about a guy like James Bond. Then it would be kewl.
