Actually, I saw a statement by her at one point that said the last book she let editors touch was Queen of the Damned.

Weirdly, I think her work really falls off in quality past that point... one book even had two sunsets in the same day. Can't recall which.

I think that's the point.

She's the type of writer who needs a strong editor.

At least she's better then Cornwell.

Since she's been editorless a couple of her books have had repeating paragraphs in them, spelling errors in them and in The Book Of The Dead she mixed up the days of the week (to say nothing of the fact that Scarpetta ended up being a 400 page novel about the protagonist losing her cell phone.)

Plus in the last three books she's actually cut and pasted the descriptions of major characters from previous books.

...at this point, I think she goes off the rails *at* people who ask hard questions, as per batshit Amazon screed.

(Have requested friends to have an intervention if I ever get to that point, or just to take me behind a barn and give me the Old Yeller treatment.)
