i find that to be a very troubling thing.

if i (theoretically, i dont identify as christian) cannot say that "i know joe (who holds himself out as a good christian) has done X and hurt others (in whatever manner)" then i'm doing JUST AS MUCH to hurt others by going along with his actions by not saying it. joe's been abusing his family. joe's been stealing from his workplace. joe's been aiding and abetting people he knows are breaking the laws of the land.

i agree, vote your conscience. i also agree that a christian's ideals of what is right do not always line up exactly as what my ideals are. and that's fine...till the "laws of the land" are being laid out to line up ONLY with christian views, and that is NOT what "separation of church and state" are all about.

until we (as a nation) are able to sit down and say "ok, laws that will not bend one way or another to suit only one religious belief's viewpoints" we're going to have these huge headbutting sessions.

yet the funny thing is? i respect people who have strong beliefs, who quietly say those beliefs and live by them. the people who scream and holler and demand indignantly that EVERYONE MUST BELIEVE AS THEY DO!!!! dont get much respect from me at all.
