The Usual Christmas Post, Part 2: So What’s Your Favorite Gift?

| | it's not the same when they grow up, though. they're all, "can you just give me money this year, so i can get what i want?" "what do you want? i'll get it for you." "mother!" :eye roll: Bwahaha! Giving money can make sense with younger family members who you really don't know what they want. I have some idea with my nephew since we're both in playing guitar, but I wouldn't have a clue what my niece would want. :-D With my terrific parents, I got to the point where I would just order stuff from Amazon and give it to my mom to wrap for me from them since a lot of the stuff I usually wanted (music-related, books, movies) I could order from Amazon for less money and my poor parents didn't have to schlep through stores while paying more money for them. They still get me some stuff I won't know what I'm getting, but I'm more concerned with not putting them through the hell of going in a bunch of stores and fighting crowds. Heh. I make an Amazon wishlist so they can pick out what to get me from a selection of things I want. It's a pretty good mix of not being sure what I'm getting and not having to return things.
I got a bike trunk. Given the freaky weather this winter, I even expect to be able to use it in the near future. i added an adult tricycle to my amazon list over the weekend. i'll probably never get it, but it's something fun, and when i found it, i had to have it. LOL preston's mom and dad are easy - i get her angels or turtles and get art something coca cola related (like old signs or playing cards or stuff). both of them also enjoy any forties, fifties, and sixties music, gospel, folk music. neat idea you've got there! i'm all for what works! :) |
