My Happy For The Day I think one of my favorite scenes in all of visual fiction is where, in BATMAN BEYOND: RETURN OF THE JOKER, Terry McGinness as the modern-day Batman actually OUT-JOKERS THE JOKER. He beats the Joker by literally psyching him out.
In a film that is packed to the brimming with pure awesome, that is a moment that is exquisitely written. Well done, folks.

| | I agree, I thought that was a great climax. Did you watch it recently or just suddenly remember it? Just got Season 3 of Batman Beyond in from Netflix and dug it up from the basement. God damn, it's still good. "I like to talk!" Pretty much the Crowning Moment of Awesome of the entire series. +10 for the TVTropes reference. Nothing in the DCAU is ever too far from my mind, especially as I'm rewatching the first season of BTAS. However, I think it is just too weird that you would post this on the same afternoon that I spent several minutes remembering that very scene. It really is great! Another eerie coincidence, we were just going to rewatch that! Shaky pseudoscience aside, Return of the Joker is one of my favorite Batman stories, especially the scene with the Joker, Harley, and little JJ "playing house." I think that is one of my favorite batman episodes of all time. So dark and so much like what batman was supposed to be. |
