iTunes On My Windows Make Me Happy....
...bought with the cash from my $50 bet:

Barenaked Ladies, "Celebrity"
Jeff Buckley, "Grace"
Badly Drawn Boy, "The Hour Of Bewilderbeast"
Great Big Sea, "Sea of No Cares"
Peter Gabriel, "Up"

Then I just spent my own cash to buy Fountains of Wayne, "Welcome Interstate."

Gee, this is addictive. And all of this with no Moxy Fruvous, Jimmy Eat World, or Da Vinci's Notebook!

Current Mood: Mexican Wine, Fountains of Wayne

ITYM "Hour of the Bewilderbeast". That and Grace - most kicking album choices. Easily the best of both artists.

Fountains of Wayne, I am assuming that's a group? Too funny, they must be from New Jersey.
Jeff Buckley is(was) awesome. Whenever I here 'Hallelujah', it gives me goosebumps.

Fountains of Wayne are indeed a band, and a good one - in the bare-bones style of Presidents of the United States of America, Lit, and Size 14, they do pop rock that's melodic. I want more of them.

They are, and they are named after the Fountains of Wayne.

It's a place at the intersection of US-23 and Rt 46 in Wayne, NJ. They sell outdoor ornaments, and every year around the holidays, it's a place where they sell Christmas stuff. When I was younger, there used to be a yearly trip down there, to walk through their elaborate decorations and scenes.

Last time I was in Jersey, the place was still around.

You can always download "Bleed American" (the single, not the album) for free from Amazon, and pull the MP3 into iTunes, thus giving you Jimmy Eat World in iTunes. :-)

But yeah, it's a major addiction.

Well, "Bleed American"'s not my favorite tune from them. It's "Praise Chorus," if only for the fact that I can get the harmony right every time.

Now, if I can only find someplace to buy the fucking CD.... It's out of stock everywhere I go...

So which one do you like best so far? (Not that it's a fair competition, not until Moxy Fruvous is included)

Great stuff. Too bad on the Moxy Fruvous, though. I had the chance to meet Jian a couple of times. He's just a little full of himself, but really talented.

How is Da Vinci's Notebook? I'm a big fan of Eddie from Ohio and they have worked together before.

Da Vinci's Notebook.

Seen them in concert. Quite a show, let me tell you. My ex-wife knows the band, as she works at one of the larger venues here in Indianapolis. I have a "DVN" bumpersticker on my van.

I KNOW!!! It's so great!!!

My dad said the same thing about it sounding like the Cars and I agree totally! I love the Cars though. It reminds me of hanging out with my dad while he played records while I was little. I swear to God, I'm one of the only eighteen year olds who knows what a record looks like!

But "Hey Julie" is a good song too. I really like that one.

If you're going to go Canadian, you may as well check out those silly guys in Corky and the Juice Pigs. Ack. Just searching for my Badly Drawn Boy cd, it seems to have taken a hike during the move. But yeah, he's cool too :o)

How can you deny a band that has a song with the lyrics:

"I take a look at my enormous penis, and suddenly everything's going my way!"

They even have a gospel revival song about Disney World! I mean dude!

Fountains of Wayne!

For some reason, it makes me giddy when people like Welcome Interstate Managers. I think its the best fucking pop rock album since early Cheap Trick.

No one else can so perfectly balance pop hooks and utter cheesiness and present it as sheer and utter rock and roll ingenuity.

And my enthusiasm for the album doesn't even have anything to do with the fact that I am in love with Jody Porter, haha.

It is indeed good. I cannot get enough of pop rock. Fill the universe with Presidents of the United States, Size 14, Jimmy Eat World, and Matthew Sweet, and I could die a happy man.

In regards to the wanting more of them...

Their other albums don't come close to matching Interstate in sheer wonderfulness.

They all have a few gems, and a lot of boring filler.

Utopia Parkway is probably the best.
