Actually, I think there are a lot of hobbiest doctors. They're called "anyone who has a doctor in their immediate family". XD My dad's a doctor and I offer medical advice all the time to people. As does my mother (despite being divorced from him for more than seven years now), my brothers and my aunts and grandparents. I suppose their might be some people who have doctors in their families who don't try to diagnose everything (maybe people with surgeons in their families), but they're the exception rather than the rule.
