My To-Do List Baffles Me
I am a to-do list junkie. One of the reasons I got my iPhone is that my To-Do list on my Treo sucked. I have been known to do something, then write it down on my to-do list so that I can check it off.

However, for the past two days I've had an item on my to-do list that I can't fathom:

"Follow up girlfriend."

I have no clue what this means, or why I wrote it. I'm trying to think of a word I would have mistyped that my iPhone would auto-correct to "girlfriend," but nothing's coming to mind.

In the meantime, Gini is asking me, "Should I know something here?" And you know, if it turns out I have one, I'll be just as surprised as she is.

The iPhone uses a full (virtual) QWERTY keyboard, not T9.

But I am not that sort of "girlfriend", so you will probably continue to owe me an email.

Hmm... maybe you were supposed to follow up on whether a friend has a girlfriend, or get the contact info for a friend's new girlfriend? Doesn't have to be YOUR girlfriend after all....

On a completely not-girlfriend note, I had the most bizarre dream last night that you had built an enormous house that was mostly taken up by a library inspired by this awesome one, and had invited everyone who was a reader of yours to come hang out in it (!?!) and so for some reason I was wandering around in your library with a bunch of my friends, hanging out, and having strange conversations. Until I was going to be late for the bus (??). Clearly, my brain thinks you should use your new woodworking skills to build an enormous awesome library.

Speaking of to-do lists, have you checked out David Allen's Getting Things Done productivity system? It's pretty neat. I'll be surprised if you haven't, but I wanted to make sure. :)

i have todo lists in my brain that never get done. I want to write them down, hoping that it would inspire action, but refrain because the guilt of things undone ON PAPER crushes me.
my anxiety kills me before I can begin.
not that I'm not guilting over the undone things anyway, it's just worse if it's where others can see my failures, too.
why don't I just do the things? That's a whole other list of anxieties.

Wouldn't you be more surprised than she would be? I know that if I found out my significant other had a...significant other I wasn't aware of I would be extremely surprised, not to mention hurt, but if I found out that I had a significant other I wasn't aware of, and yet had somehow managed to reference in a to do list, well, I'd be shaken to my core. I'd have to re-evaluate my entire frame of reference to the world and my memory. I'd have to question EVERYTHING.
