Flu, Stupid When you have not one, but two jobs that involve relying on your brainpower to work, having a stupid flu is not fun. When I get sick, my brainpower tends to shrink rapidly, and having a head cold for four days running has impeded my progress.
How dumb am I?
- I could not watch "The Spiderwick Chronicles" because I was having difficulty following the plot.
- It took me (no joke) three hours to figure out how to do a proper three-table grouped join in mySQL - admittedly, there were one or two things that made it slightly tricky, but what should have been a fifteen-minute conundrum became the goddamned Da Vinci Code.
- It took me an hour to post my Barack Obama post the other day, and at the time I posted it I wasn't even sure if it made any sense. (I still don't.)
- I spent four hours staring at my screen, revising, to produce 800 words of revised story, and I don't even know if they're the right words. (This may be par for the course for many slower writers, but I'm known for my speed.)
I am trying to struggle along on fewer pistons now. I have become Simple Jack, and the slowness of my head movies makes my eyes rain. (And of course, what am I trying to red to educate myself in my sickness? Building Scalable Web Sites. Yes, that's going swimmingly.)

You have been brought down to "human" level of operation.
One of us One of us One of us
Yes another convert to lower intelligence.
*begins joining in chant* won of us won of us won of us... wait, oh sorry. one of use one of use one of use
Haha.
Me lose brain? Uh-oh.
Well at least you are safe from the braineating zombies, as for the ones who eat the rest of the human body though you are screwed.

I think it's the most sensible thing you've said about Obama yet. I don't know that I should be the hallmark of political sanity, but hey.

I don't know about the rest, but I as impressed by the Obama finger-wag post because I hadn't realized why I was feeling nervous/uncomfy with my candidate until you pointed that out!
I hope you feel better soon.
Aha! I know this problem all too well. I got sick the weekend before the last and spent about four days completely unable to do my job... one of which was spent at the central office in Tucson. Fortunately I was believed when explaining that I was sick, rather than that I had been concealing vast quantities of stupid since my hire.
Look, give yourself permission to be human, and a sick human at that- go lie down, and just BE SICK for a while- maybe even a couple of days. Your body will recover faster when it's not trying to split processor time between a dozen different thoughts while fighting off a virus!
Mmmm.... The post-Clarion disease infestation ;).
I hope you feel better very, very soon.
Quick thought: Please put an 'a' in the word 'read' in your parentheses. It took me about 15 seconds to figure out what the hell you were trying to say.
Though now I'm worried that I think that 15 seconds is a long time. Curse you fast internet speeds!!!
Go to bed! It'll payoff later, when you regain your brainpower sooner. |
