Societal impact is exactly what I'm talking about though. I'm not trying to argue that kisses are physically more intimate, there's no denying that. ![[User Picture]](http://l-userpic.livejournal.com/2866866/711176) | | From: | theferrett |

But societal impact is irrelevant. Here's the thing: Society as a whole currently thinks you're a freak for blogging and having Internet friends. Does that mean the 60% of people who don't do it should tell you that it lessens the impact of "real" friendships, since your e-friendship value is clearly making it more difficult on others?
For these percentage of people who don't mind opening up this area of intimacy, it's fine. And I don't think having it is a bad thing that corrupts, since if you're dating a girl who doesn't mind having her boobs touched like that it's probably a Really Bad Idea.
It strikes me as kind of much the same argument that gay marriage is bad because it takes an area some consider THEIR space of intimacy and opens up more people to it.
I just don't see those issues the same way, I guess. Societal impact is never irrelevant. Trying to pretend that it is is just disingenuous. Which isn't to say that society is Always Right and To Be Consulted on your personal decisions. But if you think that by putting a label and a pin on the groping of women you can escape the implications this act had before you added the label and pin, that's privilege talking. |
