EDIT
Indeed, "Peace of Mind" is good to play on Rock Band.

And while "Smokin'" is authentically difficult - one of the best guitarists I ever knew shuddered when I suggested we cover that song - bombing out at 49% is not the rock 'n' roll fantasy.

I have a list of skills I need to work on for Rock Band - actual skill with hammer-ons, learning to flip the bar up and down (as it is, I only flick down, which I can do with a lot of speed thanks to my drumming tempo), and a bit more practice at the three-chord changes. When I do, I'll be able to get further than 91% through "Green Grass and High Tides."

Oh yes. The day is coming.

Oh yes.

(EDIT: And God help me, I think I'm falling for Coheed and Cambria. Anotha body murdered.)

Man, oh man. I don't have any musical experience, so I am surprised I do as well as I do on Medium. I just started getting the hang of some of the rapid segments when I last played at R&S's.

I was wondering what your level of experience was. For the record, you seemed to be doing admirably.

Thanks! Before R&S's place, I'd played Rock Band once before, on a trip to Colorado, and Guitar Hero twice before. Musically speaking, I, uhm.... I had choir in elementary school, and could play a recorder without embarrassing myself too much in 5th. :) I have a digeridu, which I think I do quite well with, but that's a completely different animal.

I know I don't have to twist your arm. How about on Friday? Except since it's my birthday, I get to pick all of the songs.

The horror!

You're usually vocals, so you pick the songs anyway. *winks*

My only exposure to C&C is through this game. H8. Singing it was horrible, and I can sing almost anything...blech!

If it's any consolation, I prided myself on years on having, uh, fairly a) diversified and b) obscure taste - case in point, http://www.last.fm/user/Pandable .

And then I got into Coheed & Cambria and shot that all to hell.
It happens to everyone at some point, I guess. :3

I can't double-strum either. But everyone tells me I'm weird, because I strum up instead of down.

I get "authentic strummer" a lot when I play bass on Rock Band.

You could just ignore the middle note going down in that long weedlie part and just play 3/4th of it consistently in order to pass, if that's the part you're having trouble with. It's easy to play three notes going up over and over again, but going up and down and up and down is hard.
