Apples To Apples, Dust To Dust: The Update Last night, we played the freshly-revamped version of Apples to Apples with sheryl67 and rbradakis, to great success. Every card was at least usable, and in the course of four games nobody had to throw back their hand. Plus, the games were far more amusing with the uninteresting cards filtered out.
However, I will never forgive Sheryl for not choosing HELEN KELLER when the Green card was SENSELESS. I know you're not big on the flower industry, but come on - ONE DOZEN RED ROSES wins? That was A-list comedy material, sister!
(Gini chose TALK RADIO over my choice of COLD PIZZA for CHEESY, but I suppose that's understandable. Still, it was one of the most literal matches we had in the evening, aside from the time I threw down MONEY for RICH.)

Helen Keller on Senseless? That's comedy gold, right there!

I think I'll have to do that. My friend bought us the Junior version accidentally, but we were still able to have a really good time. Now we just have to upgrade, and find people out here who want to play!

"Senseless" is good, but thyesc once played "Helen Keller" on "visionary" (and won it [g]), which might be even better.
oh, that Helen Keller would've been so classic.
The most literal pairing I ever had:
"Fuzz" on "fuzzy".
. . . Yeah.
I'm a big fan of weirdly-literal picks in Apples to Apples. My favorite (which I've actually done three times now, I think" is UNIVERSE for LUXURIOUS on the grounds that "That place has everything!"
I once talked my way into winning "fastest" with "TV" on the grounds that "Well, it travels at the speed of light, doesn't it?" :)
I was most pleasantly surprised about the game. I could definitely see playing that a lot more often.
It's totally amazing with the right people. As you can see. But also try it with the kids, like I said; it's a great kid game that they can play with grown-ups and not be left out.

"I will never forgive Sheryl for not choosing HELEN KELLER"
She may be senseless NOW (that she's dead.)
*Never* forgive me? And you said other people were sore losers? Geesh.
He's a fierce competitor, eh?

You know I did. Apples to Apples is too much fun.

It ain't losing I mind. It's the lack of acknowledgement for my greatest comedy drop ever, baby!

So you're saying THAT was the funniest thing you've ever done? Not even close.
'round these parts, we have a house rule: END OF THE WORLD always wins.
How about the CHARMING CHALLENGER EXPLOSION? Our friend Nick threw CHARMING down without looking at it first. Woops!
Did it win?
It totally should have won.
Of course it won, silly. Remember to whom you are speaking. :oP
Ah, I like confirmation on your wonderful tastes.
Speaking of which, how's your hubby's leg?
Well, I like you. Isn't that confirmation enough?
Have you hugged your wife today?
He's sore, but ok. My parents came up and helped us finish cleaning. It was good to see them, too-- very reassuring to make sure no one else is bleeding. The family's had enough ER visits to last until May, thank you!
So wait, who went where? If there were festivities here in Michigan, I will be a sad panda.

We need to tap all of that extra free time you have (laugh) so we can get you on the Penguicon Con-com... then you can come up for visits all the time!
Unfortunately, I just spent my last free weekend until penguicon having dinner with friends and my parents.
Oh, and watching Dexter. :)

Ouch, that is a long stretch without free time... we shall have to make for entertaining time spent at Penguicon then to make up for it!
It was, sadly, a private fiesta for the day. Future ones will be open, I promise!
S'ok. I can appreciate wanting Randy and Sheryl all to yourself. :)
Especially when she starts feeding you. I don't think I've ever left that house not being full of food.
Best use of Helen Keller I've seen was for "Touchy-Feely".
I'd just been bemoaning the fact that I'd drawn Bill Clinton after playing a lame card for it, but I'd have lost to that anyway.
ha ha, touchy-feely, that made me LOL
I remembe that one. Still a classic.
I knew sleetfall and I were bros for life when he was judging the card VISIONARY and I threw down HELEN KELLER and won.
Best Apples2Apples round, ever:
Touchy feely.
Card won: Helen Keller.
I think my best throw was for SPICY.
Naturally, I had BRAINS.
best round i've ever had: anne frank for delicate. and phony for helen keller. usually when we play anne frank wins for everything. |
